One can speak poetry just by arranging colors well just as one can say comforting things in music.
—Vincent van Gogh

DAVID W. ANDERSON
Working in acrylics, I like to use larger brushes for the most part and often times use my fingers to capture a painterly effect. This brings me back in time to finger-painting as a kid when I would slide tiny fingers through slippery paint creating what I thought was amazing–ending up on my mom’s refrigerator gallery. Now I enjoy the different effects I can acheive by using multiple layers of transparent paint to convey the luminous quality of my subject.
Over the years I have mostly worked in painting landscapes. Recently I tried out painting still-lifes after taking a class and immediately fell in love with the many different subjects I could use for inspiration. The multiple options of lighting and shadow casting are fascinating to me. Quiet often I will paint fruit for its multiple varieties of color, angles and beauty.
Over the last year and a half I have created over 130 pieces. I find that I can’t wait for the weekend to come and my studio painting sessions.
